The first stop when visiting any new area is, undoubtedly, to sample some of the local cuisine. The local foods, can in fact, be the highlight of an entire vacation for many. Tampa has a great array of local restaurants that will make you want to come back to this area over and over, again.

A great place for steak, in Tampa, is Bern’s Steak House. Bern’s is frequented by many celebrities, and is a legend according to the locals. It offers a classy dining experience, without being overly pretentious. Bern’s has an extensive wine menu, and an 18-page menu of consisting of entree’ choices, and many available caviars.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. They also offer some of the classic steak side-dishes, such as soups, salads, and baked potatoes. Bern’s also specializes in desserts, having an entire room dedicated to them, named The Harry Waugh Dessert Room. A great steak and a delicious dessert, who could ask for more?

A great seafood restaurant to check out, is Rumba Island Bar and Grill. Florida is, after all, known for it’s great, fresh seafood. While not located within Tampa city limits, this restaurant is just a hop away, in nearby Clearwater. Rumba offers many seafood dishes with a Caribbean twist. This restaurant offers a more casual dining experience, complete with Caribbean music, and indoor and outdoor seating. Enjoy the wonderful Tampa weather enjoying a nice entree’ on their breezy patio, and drinking an ice-cold beer. Rumba also has an extensive beer and wine list. Their dinner specialty is the Caribbean rice and shrimp bowl. This is a base in which you can add many additions, such as mahi-mahi, salmon, grouper, and jerk chicken. Their entree’s are served with traditional sides, such as coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and salads. They also have many delicious appetizers, such as crab cakes, and Oysters Bienville.
